Dodgy ABS sensor or something? Weird as I'm nowhere near the brakes when it happens. Car otherwise is running great.

There's a certain section of a b road loop I made that has a long right hander where you can get the power down. When putting said power down it seems to dip in power when the front left goes over any minor bumps or road surface changes. I also get the furthest right light come flickering on the dash, which the diagram below says is the ABS light (14). Dodgy ABS sensor or something? Weird as I'm nowhere near the brakes when it happens. Car otherwise is running great. ________________________________________ 1999 Astor Grey GTi-6 OEM+ |

As you go over the bumps or change the road surface, it's most likely losing traction momentarily and that's what is bringing on the light. Even though the light is for ABS, it's constantly sensing the wheels motion and if they start to slip it will show a fault. The same thing will happen if you run the car in gear on axle stands, as the front wheels will be turning but the rears will be stopped and the ECU flags a fault. ________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |

I think you're right. This is the first car I've had that will break traction so that's why it felt odd ________________________________________ 1999 Astor Grey GTi-6 OEM+ |

Convinced this is actually a problem now. Happens when I'm definitely not breaking traction and not being a hooligan, and the radio turns off and on again, lights flicker etc. Found a thread with the same issue here - http://www.306gti6.com/forum/showthread.php?id=126896 PM'd OP to see if he got to the bottom of it but never got a response. ________________________________________ 1999 Astor Grey GTi-6 OEM+ |

Could be I suppose. I wouldn't have thought that would cause the car to jerk a little though? Literally a split second loss of engine power and then it's back. I'll do some more testing and come back with a more accurate description I think.________________________________________ 1999 Astor Grey GTi-6 OEM+ |

If that's the case then it definitely sounds like a momentary lack of electrical power, check/clean/tighten those battery terminals first. ________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |

Meant to post back here. Stalled it at a roundabout a couple of weeks ago and then had no electrics at all. Quick wiggle of the battery leads and she was fine. Got home and re installed the battery and noticed the battery had a lot of room to slide around inside the battery box. Put some wedges round all sides and haven't had the problem since. Pretty convinced it was the battery sliding around causing the problem. ________________________________________ 1999 Astor Grey GTi-6 OEM+ |

Yep, sounds like you've nailed it. Obviously the power was being momentarily lost and flagging up a fault. ________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |
