If it's a race car, you could remove the reverse gear cable. When changing from fifth to sixth I've found it is nearly impossible to shift into reverse.

I'm running a silencer box about an inch directly below the gear lever with no heat shield, so I think the heat is cracking the plastic. looks like I'm gonna need another lever, heat shield and exhaust from manifold back. This expence is never ending

Clamped it to my gear stick trimed the reverse cable crimp and sheath. Works a treat.
