For Sale is my wife's Onyx Black Rallye CAR NOW SOLD

This is my 3rd Rallye and can confirm what all other owners know, they are the nuts!! Perhaps one of the last great 'Hot Hatches' made before all the modern technology came in and took away a lot of the fun out of driving.

I am considering purchasing a Mitsubishi Evo and unfortunately cannot justify keeping this as well. If the car does not reach what I consider a reasonable price then we will keep it and put the Evo on hold. (and yes I know I should probably do that anyway!).

The car has very low mileage for it's age and there are not many around with similar or less.

The engine still pulls like a train in every gear and is a pleasure to drive this underrated naturally aspirated engine.

The airbag light has just recently come on and is a common fault with 306's. Unfortunately, I am tall and my wife is not so changing the seating position seems to have caused this fault.

The exterior condition is that of a 14year old car. There are dings, dents, scuffs and scratches but nothings that really stands out like a sore thumb. The bonnet has chips from previous motorway use as does the front bumper. The most notable marks are a scratch on the drivers side and also a crease in the drivers door. I have been quoted £380 (+VAT) to re-spray the drivers side, front bumper and to 'mop' the bonnet. If we keep the vehicle I shall probably have this done in an attempt to restore her to near showroom condition.

The interior is in good shape although there is some wear to the drivers seat bolster, this again is a common fault with these models.

Car was previously owned by member M. Harries.

Car is one of last registered and sits on a V plate.

Mileage currently 79,012 although this will increase a small amount.

Car includes;
Full Scorpion exhaust fitted which produces a lovely sound!!
Pipercross kit.
Toyo Proxes T1 all around and still with plenty of grip.
Privacy glass fitted (original rear windows will come with the car).
Rear spoiler has been replaced with a 'carbon look' one. This was included when we purchased it and looks better than it's well worn predessesor!
Later generation headlights.

The car is fitted with Peugeot Motorsport gear linkages which I was told by prevous owner can cause a 'sticky' 2nd gear when cold. Having owned the car for nearly 12 months I can honestly say I have not had any problems with this at all and it is used regularly by my wife.

I have a large amount of old MOT's and invoices from previous owners as well as the original handbooks.

I have been honest with the description and truly believe this to be a cracking little car. With a small amount of TLC it could be one of the best examples around and i am letting her go with a heavy heart.

Please feel free to contact me for more photos or any more information.

Cheers
Charles

Apologies in advanced as I am having trouble uploading photos, any assistance greatly appreciated!!!!

I assume you mean ugliest after the iv??? If money was no object I would have a vii RS Sprint, great looking and amazing performance but to be fair there is not a great difference between 6's, 7's or 8's price wise.

Hello old friend.

I owned this from November 2004 to summer of 2005 and have kept an eye on it since, hoping to get it back one day. Unfortunately today isn't that day as I have 4 cars already and a 5th would put a bit of strain on my entire life.

Unless you're up for a swap on a 2004 Renault Megane or a 2003 Smart ForTwo Cabrio I sadly can't have her back. Nice car though

Unfortunately, I only know the whereabouts of one of my old Rallye's (T699 KNE)....the scrappers yard Sad
Looking for a diesel estate (306/focus) as my daily runner as i'm getting rid of my Civic cdti as well so the Megane and Smart wouldn't be suitable. (Although the wife would probably love the Cabrio!!)
Thanks anyway!!

Offers there Smile

The Meg is a sub 60k miler with leather, climate and a bunch of other stuff. 1.6 VVT so similar in fuel costs to a 306 derv. Worth more than the ol' Rallye too

The offer is appreciated but will have to decline. Really need an estate so this would only leave me with another vehicle to sell Unsure
As mentioned previously, in no rush so if you manage to sell one of yours let me know!!
Cheers Thumbs up

Will do.

Couple of things to note about the car as I know it

The original owner was a chap called London_Irish and was on this forum, though that's years ago. He PX'd the car in 2004 for a Civic Type R at about 23k miles old. He contacted me when it re-appeared. Confirmed that it had never been crashed, dinged or dented and was an utterly straight car. He did it's first cambelt at 21k miles! He spec'd the car with mud flaps from new, which is the mark of a guy who cares

It was then briefly owned by Rallyecross on here. He sold it to me at 23,899 miles

I kept it for about 10 months, bunged a load of miles on it and flogged it to a chap calle Blair on here. He kept it a fair while (2008 maybe?) before it moved to a couple of owners around the West Country, then to Martin and then I believe onto you.

As far as I know it's had a new front bumper at some stage (owner before Martin skidded on some ice and cracked the orignal), the wheels refurbed and the tailgate replaced with a phase 3 item (interestingly enough it was one of the earliest Rallyes built) but otherwise it should be very original. I think I remember the stickers being replaced at some stage but unless I've missed something it's never had a single trip to a bodyshop for panel damage which must be pretty rare for these now.

Oh, I think it's actually a 1999 registered car, November IIRC so it's not quite a 2000 car (like that makes any difference at all)

Wow, that is an extensive knowledge of the car's history, thanks!Thumbs up I am aware that its a 99' but when I entered the reg in the advert it automatically listed it as a 2000 Unsure

Really not much love for the vii's on here!! Incidentally, vi's are my favourite but the market has been flooded with bad one's so am a little tentative about buying one. The vii's are understated (bit like the rallye), and I guess the viii's are a bit of both but I wouldn't be unhappy with either Razz
