right

i put my car off the road in november as i was fed up of it.
had hassle with it struggling to start
then wouldn't start at all. (which made me and 4 mates very late for a stag do)

a month later i banged some jump leads on it and it started, but the next day it wouldnt, it just kept turning and turning.

and now it wont do anything, it just clicks

so anyways, tonight i finally decided to strip the starter out, it smells a bit, and sounds really rough when i turn it by hand.

i tried to hook up some jump leads to it directly to see if it would do anything, but it didnt.

what other checks could i do to it?? before i turf it and get a replacement?

The starter is knackered...Yes

That is, as long as the battery you're testing it with is charged. Thumbs up

its bloody annoying, im hoping that a new starter will sort things, maybe it wasnt spiining fast enough before and thats why it wouldnt start. here's hoping.

No worries, yep deffo sounds like it's knackered. It shouldn't cost much for a second hand unit, I picked one up from a member on here a few years back as a spare for £5...
