Was out in the car today, was overtaking a lorry and the engine hesitated then carried in again.

Got it home and there is load tapping which goes up.ajd down with revs.

There us also quite a lot of sworf in the oil.

And pointers before I take it apart?

Thanks.

yeah, drop the engine oil after getting a video, if there's bits in the oil it sounds like bottom end, how much oil is in there?

Could it be a failed lifter? Have just had the cam covers off and there are some small scuff marks.on one of the cam lobs on the inlet cam.

It does sound like a possible dropped valve. Sad

Anything new can fail I'm afraid, so it cannot be ruled out no matter who did it

Poogies had a knackered bottom end but to begin with it sounded like a top end problem. Sad

My mechanic friend seems to think it could be a faulty lifter.

Could it be a slightly bent valve though.

But I can't see how a valve could have bent, cos its been running fine till now.

It still runs fine just the tapping noise.
