Ok that's good to know, thanks gents. I got the kit from Peugeot and only realised what I'd done when I got home with it. I bought the kit listed for my rallye, 136 teeth written on the belt. Came with tensioner and roller. Just making sure it fitted my engine regardless of what was there and you've answered that for me, much obliged.

Got it for an excellent price from Peugeot with a discount from my usual parts man. Now to fit it next weekend with help from a kind assistant on here. Need to order the bolts to suit as I forgot. Not at home now but sure I ordered the kit rikky listed. Are those the two bolts.

If its a 136 engine you wont need to order the bolts, one tends to come with the new kit anyway, and the other "screw column" will already be installed on the engine.

Yes, as Mei says you will need the screw column if you currently have the 137 tooth kit on the engine and wish to fit a 136 kit. Yes

I still have my rallye engine in the garage, will have a nose on Sunday. Already undone the top cover to whip off but had to head out.

The continental timing belt kits are decent quality, I'm happy to use these myself and they're reasonably priced. The amount of time a belt will last is directly proportional to how well it was fitted when it was new - within reason of course. the 72k mile original replacement mileage isn't unreasonable if a good quality kit is fitted properly. The revised 36k was probably "thought up" by a £50k/year accountant who said "meh, half of 72 is 36, that'll do" so I wouldn't worry about leaving one on for 50k ish.

Ok thanks everyone for your input. I got a kit from Peugeot which worked out similar to Gsf. I studied service box at length and now understand the differences , with a touch of guidance from Stan. I have 136 kits on both my old and new engines, I checked yesterday. Makes my life easier to install the 136 you all say is better. Smile

Just my lack of Peugeot exposure really.
