right ive had a problem with my abs for a while now could never be botherd to fix the problem until now till i took the car off the road i was wondering if i clean the abs rings up on the shaft with a dremmel would that take the light off ? or is it easier to just replace ? ive cleaned the sensors they seem to be fine another thing is sometimes when i came out on a morning mainly when it was damp the abs light would be off until i tapped the brake the abs would kick in instantly then it would be back on any ideas would be much appreciated

The front sensor rings can get clogged up with crap. If you get something conductive stuck in there, it could be giving out a duff signal. Or, the front rings can break and if they are dislodged, that could give a duff reading.

Alternatively, you have a bad sensor. Can be a pita to get out but new ones are only £20 or so.

I would imagine you have a dodgy sensor to be honest. You need to get it hooked up to a diag though to determine which one so you don't waste money replacing good sensors. Yes

Or if you cant do that, unplug each sensor, put a multimeter on the pins set on ACv and then spin the wheel and you should see a voltage appear every time a raised part of the ring passes the sensor. If not, or if there is a constant non-varying voltage, it needs replacing.

Ebay! Although your right, they do seem pricy. I bought one for my first 306 2 1/2 years ago now and i only paid £20 for it from Camberly auto factors!
