does it have to be in the box for protection or are the connectors water tight

Hi folks im looking to put the battery in the boot on my 6 so i can put the filter there the battery is using a nice big piece of silicone i have sourced... Thing is iv noticed the ecu is housed in its own little compartment in the battery box i really want to do away with the whole lot and put the box in the boot any ideas what i can do with the ecu does it have to be in the box for protection or are the connectors water tight answers greatly appreciated dan |

If you have a spare battery/ecu box, I'd recommend cutting the ecu bit off and just mounting it on the strut. You want to avoid moving it as much as possible and even if you do, I only really wants to go as far as the dash |
