Hi guys,i had my lower gearbox mount changed about a month ago and the car felt alot better straight away but i still think the top engine mount is givin out far too much play, ive read the faq and it seems simple to change but i just wanna ask wht mount u would recommend and where to get them from, ive been quoted £35 from my local peugeot specialist but am unsure if its worth splashin out the extra for uprated,it will only be used for fast road not trackdays so any info would be appreciatedThumbs up

I got one from the peugeot the other week.
Was 52 quid, but i also bought the buffers and top buffer bit part
Came to 80 for all that.
Tbh i feel like i should have bought a vibratechnics fast road one really as people on gere will generally say that the top one is the one that will give you the least cabin vibration when uprated if that makes sense, so theres not much to lose.
Having said that, I cant say i have any issue with the peugeot one, Feels far tighter since and the mount was cracking at its base (not the cars shell but the mount it self)
The main worry with these cars is that if the top mount goes then it can sometimes crack the mount area on the shell. So make sure you inspect it when you change them over (although it will be obvious)
I have also chocked my mount so theres far less room for it to move.

I have a Group N top and gearbox mount, with a solid Group A lower one. Remember, it's the lower one which gives the most cabin vibration over the other two. Yes

You can make chocks out of any material really. Mine has steel strips welded into the basket and painted for chocks, as long as it takes up any play it will be fine.

For mine i bought a length of steel from wickes
Cut it to size and then used a hammer and workmate bench to bend to shape LOL
Drilled the top of it and its a perfect fit!

The buffers are fine, you still need those but in my experience there will always be a gap between the bodywork and the buffer which needs to be filled. In my experience, it's this lack of filling which causes the whole mount to move on hard acceleration and crack the cradle below. Yes

If the movement wasn't allowed in the first place then it wouldn't fail anywhere near as easily.

Yep
As above keep the buffers.
It wasnt obvious to look at but the new ones (as they were fresh) were far stiffer than the age ones which will help.
But id think a new one that is chocked should last a lot longer!

You only need to go see Davey Boy if your shell is cracked/damaged,he does a repair piece that he welds in that is alot stronger than the standard Pug metalThumbs up
