Hi, tried a search but I can't seem to answer my question.

On the ducting pipe from the air filter the the throttle body mine T's off with a pipe going to under the inlet manifold, firstly what is this?
Secondly it looks like somebody already repaired mine where it's split off before.
Does anybody know if you may still be able to get the air filter to throttle body ducting and what a part number may be?

Thanks in advance

It's the air feed for the idle control valve, and it's very common for the joint with the inlet pipe to break.

The part number for the pipe is 1424 3F and it will set you back £51 for a new one.

So I'm guessing it definitely wants connecting up then? that would be why it idled a bit funny on start up, what would you call that piece of pipe anyway?

Shouldn't really affect idle, as you can just put a straight piece of pipe off the icv with a mini breather filter on the end, got this on mine and idles fine.Thumbs up

All that pipe does is make sure the air going into the engine via icv has been filteredWink

Yep, as Coskev says it just needs a mini filter putting on the end of the pipe. That way you'll save £51. Wink

Also block the other end where it comes off the tb pipe to the filter. Dont want any nasties getting sucked into the engine

Yes, good point. Yes

You could also take the opportunity to change the intake pipe for a nice metal shiny one or a silicone elbow.

Silicone ftw, a metal 1 would get alot hotter and create some sort of heat soak

Thanks gents that's a great help,

One other thing I've found now is that when you start it and blip the throttle the revs stick a little when cold and don't immediately drop back down, anyone else had or know this??

And thanks to the search when I put it all back I know there will be a couple of plugs left spare Wink

It could just be the ICV is slower to respond from cold, especially during the winter if it's got a few miles under its belt.

Guys, can't thank you enough, fixed the spur off the main pipe back in, gave the ICV a clean, it was pretty filthy, took the battery off and reset the ecu and she's sweet as you like the best I've ever had it!

Thanks everybody
