Just one of the preference things more to do with how you drive it really. If you cane it everywhere then you might want to bit seeing as your using the proper O.E total shizzle then you are going to be fine.I use Fuchs Silkolene 10w50 but thats mainly becuase it makes me feel slightly better about bumming it about everywhere when its warm ![]() ________________________________________ Ex- Phase 3 China GTi-6 T-Reg |

You can use 10w40, 10w50 or 10w60 without any issues. The higher the second number the better protetion you'll have when the engine is up to temp and you're booting it around. Why do you need to fit an oil cooler? Trackdays? If so, I would change the oil to a 10w50. ![]() ________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone ![]() |

Do you see regular and sustained engine oil temperatures of over 120 Celcius? Is your engine heavily modified? Will the car only get used for track days?Or, will you use the car for only the odd track day and in fact use it 99% of the time for going to Tesco? Picking up the girlfriend? Commuting to work in traffic? Driving down the road to the park/woods for a walk? Any other normal, mundane, engine-not-stressed driving activity? If so you might want to take a look at this: http://www.opieoils.co.uk/pdfs/tech-articles/10w-60-oil.pdf Maybe a very high quality standard grade 5W-40 or 10W-40 would be best, like the Silkolene xW-40 stuff that I'm sure they still sell. |

Thats interesting,I'd have thought the best shout for a standard vicousity one would be: As its fully synthetic rather than semi too. http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-60217-millers-oils-cfs-10w-40-competition-full-synthetic-engine-oil.aspx But I always use Fucss silkolene 10w50 with no issues ________________________________________ Ex- Phase 3 China GTi-6 T-Reg |

You can't go wrong if you use a high end synthetic and stick to OE viscosity or very slightly higher (given these engines have around 100,000 miles wear on them and/or if you are thrashing it around a track). OE spec was only semi-synth, so a good synthetic is already belt and braces. In practice this means 10w40 or 10w50. 10w60 is not really going to add much benefit IMO, and the article makes clear that it could possibly cause issues of its own as it is a long way from OE spec. ________________________________________ Cherry Rallye SOLD |

10/50 for me, engine gets fairly hot as standard but dont blast when engine is cold as it needs heat to work better, its also thinner so engine can rev up easier than with the thicker stuff.________________________________________ Pug fee`ver,Pick a Bogey, buy a Pug.
