Std gasket is 1.2mm thick and iirc 87mm dia, comp ratio is 10.8, cc is 1998, combystion chamber iirc is 37cc, should be able to work out the piston volume from that, its not much even though they do come up to deck and have tiny cutouts.

Rich_w will most likely know.

An accurate way would be to fit the valves to the cylinder head with a sheet of perspex flush with the gasket face. Fill up the chamber through a hole in the perspex with a liquid measured from a burette.

Could do a similar thing with the piston though depends if you want to be super accurate and measure down to the first piston ring.

lol i tried that but the fluid kept leaking out so couldnt get an accurate reading

anyway seeing as my T16 pistons and rods were of no use to me i came up with an idea...

1.9 XUD crank for 88mm stroke
RFY 152mm con rods
GTi6 pistons

with a 1.2mm gasket and approx 1.25mm skim, i work this combo out to give me an 8.1:1 cr

yes the pistons will sit 4mm down the bore, but so did the T16 ones

there have been a few people using an 8 valve turbo bottom end with gti6 head and pushing well

over 300bhp, with the right turbo and mapping so i think my latest 'brainwave' will be up to the job.
