Firstly check the timing belt is ok.If this checks out then you need to determine whether or not you have a spark. To do this, take a coil pack and spark plug out, put the plug back in the coil and then place the threaded part of the plug on the cam cover to give it an Earth and hold the coil pack. Get an assistant to crank the engine. You should see the spark plug sparking, if not you have no spark and I would imagine the crank sensor will be the culprit. If you have a spark then you need to look at the fuel system. Does the fuel pump prime when you switch on the ignition? ________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |

As above, plugs could tell you whats wrong.if they are wet you might be lucky and it's just flooded. If there is no spark and no fuel good chance it's the crank sensor, as that's what let's the ecu know the engine is turning over Otherwise have you changed/fitted anything new to the engine recently? ________________________________________ Red GTB1756 powered Fabia VRS daily driver,LBSC Gti6 eater........Mac1 ZR R1 kit car build in progress. |

cheers guys will give them a try. I can hear the fuel pump kick in when I turn the ignition on. but will inspect the timing belt first, followed by the plugs. no new parts have been fitted lately. what I have noticed those, is when the ignition is on the engine light stays on. normally they go out don't they with just the ignition on? |

I had this problem of car not starting after changing the loom and fitting a sc kit. It turned.out somewhere.it had dropped.an.earthe.so.the plugs wernt sparking and.the injectors aren't.putting fuel.into the rail. Another idea if that helps.________________________________________ 98 onyx black 306 Rallye53 Nissan Primastar silver (work horse) 58 black Volvo c30 sport |

My rallye had this not long ago and it turned out the immobiliser was not sending a signal to the ecuUnlocked ecu sorted it, so if the other checks fail may be worth checking that ________________________________________ Cherry rallye - DOB Thursday 29/04/1999Team Rallye - the leaner, meaner, better looking sister of the GTI6 roland rat wrote: You sir either live for the 6 or have a mental retardation to still be repairing this! If you don't and a new crank sensor doesn't sort it then it's likely it is an immobiliser problem. ________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |

Result ,it is alive againafter checking the timing belt and finding this was fine, I then took a guess on buying a crank sensor. once I managed to fit the new one (fiddly to do) if fired into life. so at the moment it is going well. thanks for the advice and help guys |
