a few months back i got myself another 6, 1999 with 167k and its fair share of issues and no mot

she came to me with crunchy second gear, a heavily worn clutch, knackered beam and plenty moreLOL

first up was the mot, it had a decatted magnex, so Eddiebeano kindly loaned me his cat, also fitted a new washer pump

replaced the anti roll bar links, it passed first time round with an advisory for the beam having slight play

so i rebuilt one of my spare axles with new bearings and seals, i also fitted a set of 21mm torsion bars

i then bought a gearbox from Eddygti6 and fitted a new valeo clutch kit and cable

next up was a full service along with a new timing belt kit and water pump, i think i did this just in the nick

of time, the belt was badly perished

Rallye blanks

Omp wheel

first set of wheels, i didnt keep these for long but now wish i'd kept them

i have since bought these, direct fit to go with my A048's and 406 brembos that i bought from Russbez

after most of the niggles were resolved i did a trackday at Knockhill

sneaky shot of the missus

Over the winter i plan to finish off what i started last year, a GTi6 turbo conversion.

i had stock piled a fair few bits n pieces, T16 bottom end, exhaust manifold, Garrett T3 turbo, intercooler,

Weber-Pectel ecu and associated sensors

the T16 bottom end was scrap so i salvaged the its pistons and con rods and scrapped the rest, something

that i later regrettedAngry as the T16 crank has 24mm journals meaning my pistons/rods wont fit the GTi6

crank. i sold off alot of my turbo build bits as i had lost interest but i'm going to give it another bash

also, i made these up for my previous 306, solid polyurethene bushes, these made a huge difference to

the feel of the car, so i will soon have a few more sets made

Since owning this car ive had various thoughts on what to do with it, i fancy the idea of a track toy but really

not sure what will become of it!

Interesting slinging point on the engine shot...

Fair play for saving what most would have scrapped. Yes

not as loud as it was though! centre box will be getting repacked soon when i find some time, if that

doesn't cure it then i'm getting a new system

i think the problem with Magnex systems is, the bore of the pipe work (2.5 inch) is too big hence

the boomy soundtrack

Nadine, glad you liked it, yours should be a different car by tuesday

managed to find a spare 5 mins to fit the decat

definately a worthy mod in my book, 4000rpm+ is just so much more better, plus the pops and bangs

i'm not 100% sure, thought it was shore 90 but the chap who machined them said it was something

harder, i have arranged to send a sample to a direct plastics to see what it is, its very hard but

not brittle, i can compress it in my 30 ton press but it returns to original shape
