To be honest, either keep an eye out on eBay although it may take some time before something like this comes up, or consider getting it welded. Wink

Where is it cracked, from the exhaust wheel to the wastegate flap itself?

Smaller T25s used to do this all the time, and never caused issue.

the T16's VAT25 turbo is specific to that car so the chances of another one popping up will be slim

a blacksmith offered to weld it for me but i'd be worried that the heat may distort the housing, obviouisly these

things glow red hot anyway, but still

TVR- its cracked up the wastegate from the flange, i'll get a more detailed pic later on

I phoned Ecosse on the off chance, they have a few spare old units kicking about but not willing to sell them

Only viewing in my phone, but looks like a typical crack from that era of turbo but has gone further than any I've seen. Meg, I'd run it. bits will only fly down your exhaust as my mates did. Laugh

can you not use the housing from any other turbo? maybe have one modified in some way to accept that turbine if it is larger?

normally this is what i would do, in fact i might yet, but this turbo has a variable area function that allows the boost

to come in quickly at low rpm/load, at high rpm/load,the flap inside moves closer to the turbine

not seen many pics of them so don't know entirely what is variable on them, I thought it was the intake side i.e compressor that had the variableness

no,its done on the exhaust side, basically you've got a second actuator that controls the 'tongue'

inside the turbine housing, its also used for an overboost function. as said above, at low speed

the tongue moves away from the turbine to speed up gas flow hence aiding response
