Greetings from the Antipodes All...

I've only owned my 6 for a few months now and it has always had an intermittent problem with stalling from idle if sat for a minute or so. Yesterday I headed out for a spin but had to stop in my drive to answer my phone. I sat there idling for about 30 secs when she cut out. When I went to restart the fuel pump continued pumping rather than the usual short prime and it refused to start. Upon trying again there was no fuel pump to be heard and the diag light was on.
Once previously when it refused to restart after cutting out on idle I disconnected and reconnected the battery to clear any faults and away she went. I tried same this time but still no fuel pump.

Electrics are not my strong suit. Any advice on how to proceed gratefully appreciated.
Cheers.

Nix that...I should have checked the FAQ section first.
Thanks to smighall's fuel pump relay FAQ I'm now fairly sure it's the relay.

I replaced the relay today but the fuel pump is still not priming and obviously the car won't start.
The pump works if I bridge pins 5 & 8 in the plug per smighall's FAQ.
Anyone got any tips on how to proceed?

Check the female end where you plug the relay in.
The little female ends where the pins go some times burn out.

Cheers ashbash, I ended up replacing the ECU and she's up and running again albeit with a new quirk. Now the fuel pump depressurises (?) several times after shutting the engine off. It buzzes for a moment every minute or so. It does this a few times. It only used to happen once before I changed the ECU. But it runs. I'm happy unless the repeated fuel pump buzzing after turning off thing is a symptom of another problem.

Have you even checked the wiring leading to the pump? Still sounds like you have a problem 'maybe a pinched wire'?

You'll need to throw money at the car. Not on parts. Just stand near your car and throw loose change at it, I find this increases performance for a short period of time

Mine does that occasionally if I'm sat there with the ignition off it will depressurise then keeps doing it repeatedly. Has never given me a days trouble though... Be interesting to know if you sort it.

My Phase 2 used to buzz sometimes like this but it never caused any issues. Thumbs up

Not sure what it is that causes it though.
