as a few of u know i recently posted about my tappets, n after a few replys, a few things that kept popping up on a regular basis were the injectors and plugs. well after some inspection n a bit play i give in n bought a new set of plus n changed them n as i was takin them out i noticed they wernt as tight as they should be. inparticular pot 2, wasnt even tight and was full of oil so i changed them n now the noisey knocking noise from the top of my engine has now changed to a very quiet ticking noise so would that be the injectors ??

but off topic a bit i would just like to say thanks for the advice i now have rid of the annoying knock Big grin Thumbs up

It sounds like you were lucky and the tapping noise was indeed a loose plug not bent valves. Smile

The light ticking you can hear will be the injectors yes, they are quite noisy on these cars.

I am glad for you that it turned out to be a simple fix. Yes

Those manual tensioners can be a bit of a pain to fit, you will find a 13mm ratchet spanner will make your life much easier when it comes to doing that job. Wink

a little advice, before fitting the rallye aux belt idler, run an M8 tap through the 2 bolt holes, i fiited

these bits to a members car last weekend, i tried to gently run a greased bolt through and ended up

shearing it, i had to remove the pas pump and alternator just to get the cast iron bracket off so

i could drill out the broken bolt, also had to take the manifold off as one of the 16mm nuts were

tight as feck, a simple job turned out to be a 3 hour long affair!

13mm ratchet spanner with flexi head is indeed your best friend here lol

I'm not sure what car Boost has, but judging by his earlier replies he already has the manual tensioner and it's running noisily, therefore dirt/corrosion in the bolt holes shouldn't be an issue when it comes to fitting a new one. Smile

I'm guessing then you already had the non-AC setup on the aux belt when the conversion was done?

The problem is with these is that if you bend a valve it will always be a pair. Wink

You can get them brand new for under £30,local motor factors or E-BayThumbs up

Waste of time and money as you've found with second hand onesYes

Most people over tension the belt, and this prematurely wears the bearing out in the tensionerWink
