I'm going to fit my new Nissens rad in the next week or so and have just checked the contents of the box I got from Carl.

I have read the rad fitting FAQ, but I still need a couple of additional pointers.

There are some washers in the box with the rad that I could probably guess where they go, but then again I could also probably have nice new coolant pi$$ing out over the driveway, so I'm not too proud to ask first.

Can anyone tell me where the items in the photo go? EDIT: to clarify, I'm asking where do they fit on the rad?

The top left is a plastic screw-in blanking plug.

Top right is a red o-ring.

Bottom left is a larger black o-ring.

Bottom right is a brass ring.

LOL

that big black ring is a spare for the bottom rad hose,..
later design bottom pipe not sure on the ph1/2

black plastic blanking cap and rubber sealing washer you'll spot where that goes a mile off!
on the back top left of this pic!

the copper washer I'm not sure about at this moment in time! Smile

The blanking plug fits at the top of the rad opposite end to the header tank.

It gives you the option of fitting this rad to both a '6' and a Rallye this way as the Rallye has a coolant temp sensor in the rad whereas the '6' doesn't. Therefore, if you're fitting the rad to a '6' you will need to install the blanking plug. Wink

Copper washer would go on a temperature sensor.

OK, so I don't need the blanking plug as my rad has this going into it...

So I'm assuming that I use the red o-ring when screwing this into the rad to replace the blue one that is there.

Ref the large black one, I saw the bottom hose has a similar black o-ring already on it so confirming the one in the pic is just a spare.

People posted while I was posting the pic above, so to summarise:

I've got a Rallye.

OK, so:

Rubber washer and blanking plug not needed (as it's a Rallye).

Copper washer goes between temp sensor and rad (to the left of the red ring in pic above).

Larger black o-ring is a spare as there is an identical one already fitted to the new bottom hose.
