I have a 306 1.6 Yr 2000. The battery went flat, anad when I tried to jump start it it wouldnt start. It wouldnt start aeven after the battery was charged. The lights on the dashboard all light up as normal.

The fuel pump doesnt not prime, there is no voltage to it.However the pump is in working condition. Also there is no spark.
The fuel pump relay which is behind the battery clicks.

Thinking it was the ecu/immobiliser I changed the set including the key and the transponder (the ring) bought from ebay. This didnt make a difference at all.

I have checked around to see if any wires were corroded but couldnt find any.

Can anyone help please?

Sounds like the ecu is getting no signal to let it know the engine is turning over and wants to run!!!Wink

so crank/cam sensor,or whatever your model 306 uses to tell ecu engine is turning over.

The ring around the ignition barrel is not the transponer, its just an aerial. Transponder consists of yhe key chip and box that sits in the dash just above the ashtray in front of the gearstick.
Check the inertia switch and fit a new crank sensor if thats ok.

This ^^

I suspect once you change the *actual* transponder in the car to the matching one with the key it will probably start. Yes

Thanks for all of your replies, I checked the crank shaft sensor yesterday and it had arond 500 ohms accross it.About the transponder, immobiliser, key ring and ecu- I have fixed in the original back again as it was.
I have checked the inside of the key and the chip is in place.

The relay activates the power to the fuel pump via the inertia switch, and the power to the coils/spark plugs. So even though the relay clicks, that could be faulty? there is no voltage on the inertia switch.

I will check the relay today and next replace the crank shaft sensor with hope!

Check to see if you have power coming to the relay. Yes

If so, but it's not travelling from there to the inertia switch then the relay is duff. (Quite a common fault) Wink

Power comes to the relay, i checked it on the plug.but there is no power coming out from the relay (relay not closing) even where it operates (click noise).very strange.i checked the relay with 12 volts and a multi meter and it worked fine!
i also bypassed the relay and the fuel pump worked. The relay earths are given by the ecu via pins 10 and 7 on the relay.Maybe it is that the ecu is not earthing the relay!

The positive to the relay is supplied directly to the relay from the battery.
