Since it was off I decided to strip and refurb the beam. After a lot of swearing I'm left with this.

The trailing arm shafts are in good order.

I've cleaned all the splines and been down the dealers to replace all the knackered hardware. Hopefully it will be back in one piece and on the car by the middle of next week.

Also had this turn up.

Whilst its in the air the bumpers are coming off as well and getting gutted. More pictures to follow.

No, not the microwave.

Quite strange how I'm doing exactly the same thing to mine at the minute. Refurbish the beam, and removing ABS and pipe work and swapping it for one with an inline bias valve etc.

Let me know how you get on. I'm going on holiday for a week tomorrow, so if you get it done in the week, make sure you take lots of pictures Wink

Finally got the beam rebuilt today. Finished off fitting the solid mounts and replace the beam seals.

Cleaned the old grease off and applied plenty of clean stuff to the tubes.

The dummy shock was set from when I originally dropped the beam so I was happy with the ride height. Had a slight problem fitting the first torsion bar since the edge of the splines behind the offset washer had rusted, so I had to carefully file away the rust. Had a slight faff getting the 'gap' between the arms and the seals right but that was sorted in the end.

I must now remember to rebuild it every so often. Next the brake lines, bumpers, air box (where the ABS used to be).

Tune in next Friday for your weekly instalment.

That is the usual problem when changing mounts on a lowered axle. You either bash the trailing arm off a bit or cut the bolt and refit from the other side. I've done both previously.
