New job means I need a car that will do more that 15mpg so Ive been looking around and have decided on a 306 hdi, Theres some really nice ones about. Is there anything I should be looking out for? Any common problems with these cars? A lot seem high mileage - how long will they go on for?Cheers guys, |

feck, what do you drive now??! can't be a 6 unless you pin it on the boards all the time, in which case you wont save much with a diesel tbh!!________________________________________ need a part number? get on here - http://public.servicebox.peugeot.comBring on the Trumpets. |

My other half has a 306 hdi 1.9 diesel its a phase 2 model done 254,300 miles on the same engine, change the oil and filter every 3,000 miles, its a little noisy on start up now when cold but when it gets up to operating temperature its runs really well and still getting 50 mpg.________________________________________ http://s1160.photobucket.com/albums/q486/mcvite/ |

I have covered 125000 miles in my HDi over the last 10 years and apart from normal wear and tear items the only thing I have had to change is the lift pump in the tank. As long as they are serviced they should go on and on. Filled the tank the other week and the light only came on this morning, works out to around 57mpg which is pretty good.________________________________________ 306 2.1 S16 Tarmac Rally CarProject thread: http://www.306gti6.com/forum/showthread.php?id=143956 |

Crank pulleys, low pressure fuel pumps, HP pumps are rarer but can still go, injectors are a bit of an issue (generally just noisy and they leak, just annoying more than anything) and the rest of it is usual 306 stuff (rear brakes never working properly, airbag light, aircon wont work)Also, be ready to be overtaken by, well, everything else on the road, including farm machinery. Thats the worst i could say, i actually liked mine a lot, great on fuel and looked nice, just a shame it was sooooo slow. ________________________________________ 1999 Gaystone blue '6,1990 sierra cosworth 4x2 |

Ok it's not a 6 or a modern GT TDi but still it's not the slowest thing in the world. Good torque and pulls nicely in 3rd and 4th. Oh and that E30... ________________________________________ '01 Astor Grey GTi6'99 Cherry Rallye |
