Hi , started off making some Ali door cards today? Any tips? I haven't got round to cutting out the handles yet!

No idea, but they look quite smart and my standards won't fit with the cage.

I'd get a rotary polishing dubry for a pistol and and pattern it with small circular swirls. Either that or i'd grain it. Smile

Or you could make them out of thin plastic sheet from B&Q.
Do away with the STD door handle, use small chain or wire through a hole in the card to the mechanism in the lockWink

Good idea with the swirl patterns but what do you mean by graining?

Personally I'd cover them with some sticky flock stuff, even brushed you'll get annoying reflections off them if they're like that, that's pretty much what I did.

I just laid the old door cards over the top, drew on and cut out the handles then (importantly) make sure you put in the old handle surrounds afterwards, looks a million times better and a lot of people don't think to.

Straight line graining. Can be done with a belt sander if you have a steady hand. Its brushed effect you get on stainless kettles and that. Although seeing the flocked ones i'd go that route as you may suffer with glare. Smile
