But more worryingly I saw this This pipe was also covered in oil/grime. Could this potentially have caused any damage?

Why drive a Golf....when you can drive a GTi-6?

Post #5 Get a heat gun and warm the end up so it melts, then push it onto the large bore pipe and it will melt back together. Job done.
