My Peugot 306 1.6 2001, 5 Speed Manual is giving me problems.
The problems are
1. Second gear keeps slipping out, All other gear are alrite.
2. Sometimes I am not been able to select into Reverse Gear.
I bought this car recently and it has done only 66k miles.
Can anyone throw some light on whats happening. Do I need a new gear box or anything else.
Your help would be much apprieciated.

Na the linkages attach to the gearbox from the gearstick, these can wear. Look down behind the gearbox you should see small metal rods.

I am going to hazard a guess at either the linkages are worn as said, or the clutch needs replacing.

Is this a common problem.
Will checking the linkages and clutch sort this?...
Will this be expensive?

Hope for the linkages as they only cost about £40 plus 30mins labour if it's clutch it won't be far off the price of a gearbox I'm afraid £300-400 I'd say.
