Hi all,

Well today whilst leaving work my STOP light decided to come on... now being paranoid about my french piece of... i duely stopped and turned the engine off for a min or two... turned engine back on and stop light was off so all seemed normal... carried on driving for no more than a couple of mins and stop light came back on... this time i was at some traffic lights and the car was idling - it didnt seem to be idling some, some slight judder so i thought oh dear and headed towards spoox in leicester as they are nearer from work than my home/carls...

stupid piece of french, its asif it knew this! and magically the stop light went off! i thought stuff it and carried on and got to Spoox, told them the problem, they said it was either the oil, a sensor or something else. Checked the oil and all is fine. Pulled off the sensor (blue one) and had a quick look at it and put it back on. Started her back up and no problems again.

I was advised keep an eye on it and if you hear the engine being noisier than normal then get it looked at. Drove home and no issues.

Got back in the car about 2hrs later and drove to my mates to go football, picked him up and then when i was at the traffic lights stationary again the stop light came back on and the car again wasnt idling right. This is then where it gets weird as the stop light then decided every couple of seconds to go, on off on off on off.. etc and this carried on happening for the next 2/3mins. By the time i was at football about 10 mins later again all fine. Parked up at football and left the car a few mins then went back and had to move it as i was blocking someone in, once i had moved it and about to turn the car off. Magic, on again comes the stop light and wierd light juddering/funny idle.

Drove to my grand parents house after football. Rechecked oil again. All fine. Started up to leave and stop light stayed on for about 3 more seconds than normal and i got the strange idle again but them it went off all fine.

Just drove home (about 5/10min drive) no issues at all.

Any help would be greatly appreciated Smile I have had nothing changed recently on the car. Used the car all weekend as was fine. Temps normal etc.

Appologies for the essay aswell! LOL

If it wasn't idling correctly could be a coil pack or spark plug failing...

Its not a really bad idle tho its just not its smooth self and then goes back to normal. Its like a really light juddery effect. If you get what i mean?

STOP lights have been to known to randomly come on when there have been cooling fan issues, like a dodgy sensor or Bitron unit. Yes

Try unplugging the brown sensor on the thermostat housing with the ignition switched on and make sure both your cooling fans spin up. If they do, put the plug back on and see what happens. A loose connection on this plug will give you a STOP light fault. Yes

You could disconnect and reconnect the Bitron unit...

This is a little more difficult as it's underneath the passenger side wing, and you will need to remove the NSF wheel and arch liner to access it, but it's not that hard. Wink

stuttering idle could be a lambda sensor.

I have had a similar problem in the past and it was the brown temp sensor.

I would try an engine flush with a can of wynns oil flush then oil and filter change first you could have a blocked oil chanel causing a drop in oil pressure
