Hi all,

I'll shortly be refitting the standard air box in my GTi 6. As it's had a K&N cone filter fitted since I purchased the car I'm not sure if I am missing any parts Dunno

Air box, lid and seal
Resonator box
Plastic neck
Filter (obviously)

Is there anything else I will need and how is the air box mounted in the engine bay? Does it bolt straight onto the inner wing? Had a look online for some pictures but no joy. I'm not sure what the plastic neck thing is for either?

I also have this problem...

Two of the studs that the resonator box have sheared. They can be bought new from Peugeot though...

Are these tack welded in place, or should they come away with a bit of brute force?

Any help is appreciated.

I think the studs are part of the housing so I think you're snookered there (drill them out and use bolts), the plastic neck slides in the top into the centre of the filter and the whole thing bolts on with two studs on the housing through the inner wing beside the horn and one bolt up into the chassis leg.

It's the studs for the resonator box, even still if I drill them out I'll ruin the finish on the powdercoat. There shouldn't be too much weight from the resonator box resting on them anyway. Now where's that superglue...

Mine looked much nicer when it came off the Rallye Smile, you can just about see the plastic neck ( the oily thing at the top)

What's it for anyway? Other than the last resting place of a sparrow, as I found out.

It is supposed to smooth out the air pulses, a bit like the resonator box underneath the inlet manifold. Yes

Roll eyes

That's another factor, which is why you get a lovely loud intake roar when people put on an open K&N filter. Cool

I'm taking the K&N off, too many puddles up here LOL

Got some new bolts and nuts ordered up for the airbox - if anyone can confirm if they are tack welded in place or not that would be helpful Wink
