One of my wheels has developed a flat. They've been stored in my garage for a while now when I come back to use them one has gone soft. Did the old soap bubble trick to identify the leak and its coming from the rim. Is there any trick to sorting this or do I need the local fitter to remove and refit the tyre? Thanks |

How long have they been stored for?It could be that the rubber in the tyre has become old and brittle and started to crack around the bead causing an air leak... You won't find out what the issue is without removing the tyre from the rim, so I would proceed with that but I suspect it's down to the tyres age and a replacement will be needed. ________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |

Oh they're not that old, stored for 8 months at most. No visible deterioration on the sidewalls either. I didn't know if any tyre fitters knew of a trick or two. |

A mechanic said to me minor corrosion of alloys (salt/water sits next to the rubber) can cause this - cure is as above, remove tyre, clean rim, put some wax or something on there to stop it. That said my LF tyre still deflates itself over several weeks. ________________________________________ Cherry Rallye SOLD |

This usually works try it if it still diflates it could be tyre perished or alloy buckled! ________________________________________ TEAM ASTOR GTi 6SNAP-ON SUBARU SOON NOT TO BE TEAM DIABLO MEREDIAN (for sale) |
