One of my wheels has developed a flat. They've been stored in my garage for a while now when I come back to use them one has gone soft. Did the old soap bubble trick to identify the leak and its coming from the rim. Is there any trick to sorting this or do I need the local fitter to remove and refit the tyre? Thanks

How long have they been stored for?

It could be that the rubber in the tyre has become old and brittle and started to crack around the bead causing an air leak...

You won't find out what the issue is without removing the tyre from the rim, so I would proceed with that but I suspect it's down to the tyres age and a replacement will be needed.

Oh they're not that old, stored for 8 months at most. No visible deterioration on the sidewalls either. I didn't know if any tyre fitters knew of a trick or two.

yup, pop the beads, wire brush round the bead, sealing goo on the bead and pop them back on.

A mechanic said to me minor corrosion of alloys (salt/water sits next to the rubber) can cause this - cure is as above, remove tyre, clean rim, put some wax or something on there to stop it. That said my LF tyre still deflates itself over several weeks.

This usually works try it if it still diflates it could be tyre perished or alloy buckled!

I had an Indian last night, this has resulted in me now leaking air from around my rim this morning.
