Granted the thermostat would be closed so I would only move coolant in the block... I don't want to Aaron... However, I don't really want the HG to rot either. The coolant is only 1 year old at the moment, so I reckon I might leave it another few months and then maybe have to change it due to it being sat. I wouldnt even wory, I take it its a rich_w uprated jobby? Those beefy fire rings round each cylinder wont put out surely ________________________________________ Team Peugeot Sport 308 GtiBlack T'99 Gti - may she rest in peace - written off in a shunt on the A329m |

Just fancied a rest from it, so fully valeted it inside and out then put it away in the garage for the foreseeable. ________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |

darkgti6 - It is the Rich_W uprated HG. I am also hoping that sitting will not do it any damage, although as mentioned, I may drain the coolant at some point to be sure.... ________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |

Yanni,Do you know how much lift @ TDC your cams have? The exhaust cam is probably a bigger issue than the inlet. I think you will be fine though - i've fitted PT-81's (Kent) in heads that have been skimmed at least twice (assume around 6 thou each time), with no valve clearance issues. As said earlier the engine runs on re profiled cams with Woshner pistons. I have to make clear and please don't take the p**s on me that the engine i have in the car was bought back in 2006 with 36000km on the clock and used it as a donor for the one i have now. The guy i bought the complete car told me what work was done to it and he also gave me the original rolling road results. I am happy to write that at least what he told me is true as the head was indeed ported and polished and that the pistons he said was fitted is there. What i don't know is the exact work that was done to the cams so i have no answer to that. Anyway i don't thing that it's going to cause any issues in the near future. If you think that you can give me a clue i can happily post a photo of the cams Yanni. ________________________________________ Major stock holder of group P.S.A.I live to pay and support the French industry. |

welshpug! wrote: they can't have been timed up anywhere near the correct lift @TDC figures Why not? The exhaust valves sit below the deck, then you've got the thickness of the gasket, and the reliefs in the piston. PT81s lift around 1.65mm at top dead, in my opinion, there is sufficient clearance for these. It is tight though, I have swung the cams a fair bit on the dyno, you can't run much more lift at top dead before you will hear pistons kissing valves. ________________________________________ Contact Details:rich@lynxpowerengineering.co.uk 07732 822546 |
