High I'm after uprating my rear torsion bars, I understand that 21mm xsara vts are a good upgrade but i'm struggling to find some. do any other vehicles have these bars fitted, or is there anything else anyone can recommend

some 306 estates have them, you can get them from peugeot or citroen for about £70 each.

They're also found on some of the larger engined 306 estates, but take care if sourcing them from a 306 estate as some have 20mm bars.

They are also available new from Peugeot / Citroen, currently £215 for the pair.

edit: Too slow, although I did check the prices before I posted Razz

Really? I have 21mm's on mine and they are IMO a good fast road setup, I'm not sure 23mm's would be as good.

Do they not make it as stiff as hell? Unsure

nope, its only about 233 lb/in, balance of the ZX is ever so slightly more rearward than a 306 if the figures I've seen are correct.

21's are about 162 lb/in, 20 around 133lb.

not sure what the standard 306 or zx/ph1 xsara spring rates are but I've got 180 lb on my AST's, as that's what came on them LOL

I think Phill said xsara springs were around 140 lb.

Its all about the damping to a certain extent, my brothers 306 on B4's and eibach used to rattle and shake like anything down some pretty rough lanes round here, but the higher spring rate and AST/koni damped setup on my car seemed to cope so much better.

Interesting info, thanks.

I am interested to lnow what the standard spring poundage is on my KW V2's then if I am running the rear at 162lbs.
All I know is the setup makes the car handle exactly as I want it to and it sticks to the road so well.

no markings on them? probably a fair bit higher, as they'll err on the understeer side as an off the shelf setup, the AST's for a 306 come with 285 lb springs.
