without spending a fortune there is not an awfull lot you can do.

i cant see just a remap getting you 185bhp.
it would at least need to be cammed i would have thought.

Depends on the spec of the cams, the higher the lift and longer the duration the closer the valves will get to the pistons. As they run stupidly close as standard you can only get away with mild cam upgrades which really don't make much sense financially as the gains are so small. You would be better served by removing weight, particularly beneficial are lighter wheels. Brake ans suspension mods will net you the most gains, then think about pistons, rods and cams as a package that all needs to be upgraded at the same time (1,500-2k basically)

A remap costs around £400, and there is no point doing that without engine work first.

Buy some good suspension and brake pads, you will see better gains out of these than anything engine related for your budget. Wink

The thing they omit from the stage 2, is the valve to piston clearance, Would be handy to know how they know the cams/valves are missing each other

Considering they offer this as a service, I would imagine they mocked the fitting up the first time and took loads of measurements ensuring it cleared. Then they offered it out as an upgrade once they knew there was clearance - all be it not a lot. Dunno

"Pug1off gasflowed throttle body"

Laugh my ass off

They're catcams 4903106, which are 1.25mm lift @ TDC, happens to be the only cam they do that'll fit a stock piston.
