Hey Chaps

-In 3rd/4th/5th/6th gear at 65mph + (when giving it the beans) i get shakey stearing wheel. This includes when im sat at say 70mph on the motorway and i accelerate in 6th gear to say 80/85 i also get this shake, its reasonably well pronounced

-Also feels like a slight juddering when i come off the throttle/on the overrun.

-Also when under hard acceleration and i am cornering as soon as i let go of the steering wheel it 'Centers' automatically straight away, or feels 'Torque-steerey' when i boot it from standing starts.... Tracking? Does not feel stable at speeds. There is also a heavy feel to the steering wheel

Is this likely to be just tracking/wheel balancing? When Matt and i redid the brakes recently we checked drive shafts which seemed to both be fine. No gearstick wobble. Judder under braking has gone but this judder under throttle has been apparant since i did the ball joints i believe....

Is it possible a weight or two has fallen off the cyclones causing my wheels to be unbalanced?

Just wana get an idea before i go pay for tracking and wheel alignment to be done and then find its no better...

Tyres seem to still be wearing evenly

Many thanks Smile

Balancing. Or lower mount or both.
But I'm certain its balancing

My clones have been balanced for 15K and never had this issue. Unsure how they can just become unbalanced Unsure

Also doesnt explain the heavy steering wheel or torque steer thing. Or the unwillingness to corner!

I reckon its tracking atleast....

I dunno I mean I had an absolute nightmare working mine out, turns out it was a little of everything for me

Somewhere I posted everything I changed in order and how much difference it made.
But basically.
Lower mount fixed it a bit but it was still there under constant speed and acceleration.
Found my dash wasn't attached on the passenger side which made it feel worse.
Got new tyres as they were worn. Seemed the same if not worse.
Then my driveshaft shat Itself and a new one made a huge difference when it was changed but at constant speed at deceleration it was still there.
I had a mot and my discs were warped. When they were replaced it was only under a constant speed.

Then I finished work one day and was just like wtf this us SO annoying . I went to a garage welshpug mentioned to me once and had all of the wheels balanced.
The guys there said you can feel 10g of unbalance on a wheel typically.
Across my 4 alloys there was 400g of weight over what was needed. They took it all off and balanced them properly. Job done Razz

I forgot to mention I also had a loose tre, which caused similar lift off and torque steery stuff as you mentioned. So I would try that too.

Check the balljoint pinch bolts are still done up to the correct torque and if they are I would expect wheel balancing to be the main issue. Yes

And what about the steering issues Stan? I was testing it again today and as soon as I let go mid cornering it centers quite suddenly. Heavy feel to the wheel

Tyres pressures ok?

The steering problem could be down to your lingering PAS problem with the nasty looking fluid. Have you managed to resolve this yet?

Haven't done my pressures in a couple months.

Pas seems to be ok, I did two fluid changes by draining the reservoir and fluid has remained red Smile

I think at the weekend I will get alignment, pressures and balancing done then see where I stand

So following on from this took it to the garage today and had tracking done and balancing all round.

Apparantly tracking was out and one wheel was massively out of balance.

Result = shakes and judders all gone, even that slight judder on the overrun! Cool

And i tested it thoroughly Big grin

So tracking and balancing on all 4 wheels for the princely sum of £40.56 all in. Gotta love JD Motors of Tring Smile

Glad this is sorted out now. Thought it was down to a balance issue. Yes
