Anyone got a phase 1/2 map sensor in or near Edinburgh as my car is having major stuttering problems and I'm supposed to be driving to Pitlochry tomorrow, doesn't look like it now though ![]() |

The revs aren't really going up and down as such but it does it right through the range, the car sounds like a diesel and has no power whatsoever, just reading through the other stutter posts I'm guessing that its either the icv or the map sensor, changed the icv today and its still the same so I'm going to try the map next |

Coil pack 100 %It's probably that your car is running on 3 cylinders. If you pull the clips that connect the injectors one by one replacing them each time I bet removing a particular one will cause no change to the running of the engine. Because you will be stopping fuel from going in the cylinder where in isn't much point, as without a cool there's no spark/ ignition. Which ever one which makes no difference to the car running will correspond to the coil on the same cylinder ________________________________________ Ex- Phase 3 China GTi-6 T-Reg |

If it is a coil you should smell fuel very strongly tbh also if you have a cat the unburnt fuel will ruin it. If you suspect the map sensor then un plug it and if it makes no difference to it running rough then it's that. If you ever doubt the MAP sensor, the easy way to test it to get the car running at idle then unplug the MAP. It should stall. I also vote coil pack was just chucking the map issue out there. As stan said it'll run like a dog then stall. To be honest it does sound alright, bit like a boxer lol, the thing that made me think it was the map was I took it of and cleaned it, the car then worked fine for about 60-70 miles. Then it done it again, so I cleaned it again and low and behold it worked again, now no amount of cleaning is doing anything now, I'm in pitlochry till sunday now so nothing much will be happening till the start of the week |

Okay, got the coilpacks today, went to fit them and some joker has obviously had them out before but has almost rounded out the bolts holding them in. I've got half of them out but can't get the others out and it's started p**sing down with hail again so I just gave up. Any suggestions to get the bolts out? |

Ok, next thing to try is to get the car running and disconnect one coil at a time to see if it makes a difference to the running of the engine. Each time you disconnect one it should make a noticeable difference. If you unplug one and there is no difference at all, that will be the cylinder with the problem. Even though the plugs looked good it doesn't mean that one isn't faulty.
