Well found out today that my drivers side back wheel wasent holding while handbrake was
up, so while i had the wheels off i change disc and pads. Also got the wd40 on the arms of the calipers, tweeked the handbrake and still
the wheel keeps turning while handbrakes on.
Does any one know how far the piston in the caliper should move while moving the arm?

It may be that the arm isn't moving as far as it should - it should move all the way round past the 90 degree mark. Also handbrake cable might be knackered.

Don't know about the pad, but does the arm move round past the 90 degree point?

So the arms on both sides will both go back past the 90 degree point without issue? In which case you've probably got a seized handbrake cable.

Nope, it's too long to make a difference. They're only about a tenner from GSF, just replace them both.

Use a bar on the handbrake arm on the caliper and see if the wheel turns thenThumbs up

If the wheel won't turn you need a new handbrake cableYes

If the wheel still turns with the handbrake arm fully pushed forward/on the caliper is fookedThumbs down

Judging by that picture, I'm voting handbrake cable. Yes

looks like the cable has stretched by that photo Unsure mine is like that now and it's pretty poor. will change it at some point before its next MOT. i put the handbrake on when parked on a steep hill and put it in gear aswell just to be safe. when i got back in it and took it out of gear it started rolling down the hill .. handbrake still on LOL

I left my old one in gear outside a shop on a hill and came out and it was at the bottom about 3 inch of some bollards, strange I was sure I parked further up I thought.
Anyway next time I parked in the same place, I came out of the shop and it was halfway to the bollards from where it was parked, moving forward slowly then stopping then moving, one notch at a time of the gears LOL

Just a warning that If it's steep enough you can't rely on the earbud to save it either

Someone who was actually taught to drive it seems!

That's pretty basic motoring, pointing your wheels at the kerb on a steep hill. Yes

LOL ment gearbox, you can't rely on the gearbox of its steep, and if there's no kerbs, like a car park surrounded by walls with a shop at the bottom protected by concrete bollards like I was, you really need a brick or a good few packs of earbuds to chock the wheel.
