At the moment i'm looking at upgrading the suspension both front and rear but not sure whether i should bother spending money on my 6 when it 'apparently' already has a perfect setup on it already.

Here are the options i have been weighing up:

1. full suspension kit (either adjustable damping or none adjustable??) for example i could get from SPAX either PSX or VSX (anything better than SPAX??)

2. JUST lowering springs (which ones are the best??)

3 Coilovers (again which ones are the best??)

In conjunction with changing the suspension what other bits and pieces would be advisable to replace/change at the same time? (powerflex bushes? ect)

The one thing that is bugging me the most is lowering the rear to suit the inevitable change in height at the front, if i were to get the torsion bar lowered what would you have to change/upgrade so it is in tune/balance with the front?

I would like to know peoples opinions on what setup they think is the best way to go as i only want to upgrade if the end result will be BETTER THAN STANDARD

I would also like to know if i just used lowering springs at the front and lowered the car at the rear to suit, is this a good setup and would it be the same as standard (handling wise) just lower?

I am being very reserved with changing things on me pug as im worried i might upset the balance of the car for the worse so any feedback on this suspension query would be very much appreciated Thumbs up

one of the most common and liked road setups on here is as follows.
Bilstein B8's up front with Eibach -30mm shocks
Bilstein b6s on the rear with 21mm Torsion bars
Hybrid arb and solid mounts on the back
rear lowered between 20-30mm
Im doing the above plus:

Every other component in the front Genuine Peugeot or Lemforder and replaced.

Inculding Droplinks, Track rod ends, Wishbone bushes and ball joints top mounts and bearings. New dust covers for the shocks and bumpstops from a 206 gti

Rebuild rear beam

For the road i'm not sure you can do better without compromising the ride

It's a slippery slope, once you start upgrading its tough to keep the costs down.

What do you actually want from the suspension?

I would want it to be lower by 30-40mm MAX and to handle better than standard if that is possible, so it oversteers less aswell.....

Probly oversteers due to knackered rear beam mounts. I'd change these for fresh new oe ones or solid mount it. I have lowered mine 40mm at the front and 30mm at the back. I have standard front shock so only the springs are changed. On the back I had a referbed beam and billy b6 shocks with stardard tb's and a 25mm arb. It handles better than standard now and dont really comprimise the ride or cost too much to do. Smile

sorry should have been more specific, i meant reduce lift off oversteer, but i think you've covered that any way by mentioning fitting solid mounts

A couple of posters have already hinted at it, but any money for "upgrades" is best aimed at replacing worn bits that are past their best with new. By this I mean replacing knackered 15-year-old standard Pug stuff like various bushes, mounts etc with brand new standard Pug stuff is going to produce a significant improvement in the way the car drives - a similar effect to an "upgrade".

So before throwing money at upgrades, best make sure the car is performing at least as well as the factory intended first, even though it is less sexy than shiny new coilovers etc.

I wish i was able to do it myself but wouldn't know where to even start and i'd probably just end up making a complete cluster f**k of it No

if there was any one local to me who could help with fitting these bits then obviously i would pay them for their time to get the job done....

Buddy you can do it. I'm going to have a crack. The jobs I've done so far haven't all gone to plan, but its very rewarding knowing you have done it yourself and the tools make you feel like a true man and increase you appoints ten fold.
Jokes aside there's no excuse not to buy the tools if you work for halfords Razz

I have SPAX PSX 30mm with Powerflex B'stops and mounts, combined with OMP upper strut brace. It's not a bad setup whilst still retaining some sort of budget. I would love to have Bilstein or Eibach but with the way things are at the moment, £££ is hard to find and I can't justify it at the moment.

You've been in mine anyways Tom, you know how it handles Yes
