I have this setup in my car, and its very good. But i will say, its a lot of work to fit it. Its not the sort of thing you are going to do in an hour and there is a penty of cutting and welding to bits of the car you wouldnt really want to cut and weld usually.

I think you will also find that the top bar runs into the heater unit/box behind the dash, so you need to think about possibly losing that. I removed the whole lump completely.

You will also need to do some cutting and welding onto the levers on the gearbox...

As for the reverse cable, i shall just be running something along the lines of a bicycle brake lever on the gearstick once i go back to using a 6 speed box when it arrives..

yours was a pure competition Kit though Martin, the recent batch of 106 ones were made to fit with minimal cutting, no welding and standard gearbox arms.

I might be interested if it could go in with the standard heater Smile

Ah that makes more sense! I've been very much with my head in the sand to most things like this while waiting for my gearbox!

In that case then, I would say a more road oriented kit would be a very good upgrade for anyone.

Yeah it's going to be as 'road' friendly as Colin can make it! Obviously these were initially designed for motorsport use, so some compromises will have to be made to use it in a car with full interior. That means some trim might need to be trimmed or removed. We won't know exactly how it will fit until we see a finished kit, but we need more people interested before that happens!

Actually, how many of you would be willing to put a deposit down so we can get these made? I'd say £100 deposit would weed out anyone who might pull out and show who is really interested.

Ill have to look at my car and see how it's going to fit, but yes I'd be up for a deposit but I want some kind of idea in the finished article first.

Yeah once we get some more numbers I'll speak to Colin and ask him to develop the first kit. Then
I'll take deposits before he builds then rest!

I don't mind the welding and cutting of car and gearbox but won't sacrifice the heater

Is there really a big enough difference from this to a well set up original set of rods and a quick hand ?
