I am wanting to know what danger do I have of driving my car without having the bulkhead heat shield on? the one I have on has partly burned a hole through the foil. It is a bit on the butchered side. I'm going to repair or maybe replace it but need to drive car still. The bottom bolts are missing after having my headgasket done, So it has ended up resting on the manifold. I don't want to carry on driving it with it resting on the manifold. So back to the main question, is it safe to run without it?

Not really, fuel pipes, brake lines and all sorts of essential stuff are protected by the heatshield, keep the journeys short and switch of if you have to stop for any delays in traffic But get it replaced ASAP

you'll be fine without it, I never got round to fitting one on my ZX that was converted to gti6 engine, no issues in 12k.

Just as a heads up, these were quite expensive around £110 I think from the dealers and albeit they aren't available anymore. No

So, your options are either buying a decent condition second hand one or there are some people who have had them made up and shaped properly in stainless steel. Yes

Cheers for the advice guys Thumbs up
See if can find one and fit it. Not easy to fit with the manifold on though. Sad

I did look at the metal fabricated heat shields on here but can't justify the price at the moment as
I have still a few other things to fix on the car..

Will look the pictures out of my project thread, but mine was going tatty round the edges and to avoid it catching fire, I have repaired one using some heat foil tape.

Much cheaper alternative Yes

The stainless ones are cheaper than getting a burned out car recovered.

Personally I'd wrap the manifold before even considering not running with one. Although it "should" be fine. I'd just rather not worry

It's been put there by Peugeot for a reason...

They wouldn't have fitted it if it wasn't necessary...No

That is the Argument I had with my Uncle, but I will get it sorted, just got to wait for someone breaking a car with one in good condition. Buzzbrightyear, I was tempted by the fabricated one but I have a few other parts to replace and I feel they are a bit more important money wise. I think only driving short distance It 'should' be ok till can replace it.
