I had a problem with my wipers not returning to the resting point when they stopped when I bought my rallye. I took the wiper motor apart to find it full of rust and crud. I cleaned all the shite out and gave the rotor a rub with some 1500 wet and dry to clean them aswell. I've also replaced the blue wiper relay (well the one that clicks when I use the wash wipe) with the rear relay.

I tried the wipers again and neither of these has fixed the problem. The actuall problem is that when I use wash wipe the wipers don't return to rest, and when just using the push down to wipe I have to keep hold if the stalk and time the release so the wipers rest at the bottom.

Is there another relay for the wipers that might be dodgy or missing? Or could it be the stalk that's broken?

HELP!!!!

This is really doing my head in now!

Like I said I replaced what I thought was the wiper relay with the rear wiper one and it did nothing. I've just taken out the relay and tried to use the wipers without it in and they still work! I still have to hold the stalk down for the one touch wipe, the constant wipe, and the fast wipe work, but there was nothing on the intermittent wipe. When i put the relay back in the intermittent setting now had power but was constant, the same speed as the normal constant setting.

Anyone have any clue at all? I can't be the first to experience this!!!

Just had a search through the forum and came across a thread that said to take the wiper apart and clean it. Ive already taken the black housing off but not the other part. I removed the plate and the motor just fell apart!

So Carl and Welshpug are both 100% right!! Cheers lads!

Now to find a new motor!

My diesel is doing it, the wiper cancels all over the place, when on auto, the wipers will go a third or so, stop, then do another half wipe, stop and so on!

Gonna try find a motor in my box of tricks and get it replaced.
