I'm looking at removing my sideskirts to check underneath for rust and touch up paintwork plus apply some wax as part of the next stage of work.

Has anyone else on here tried reattaching them with something other than the alloy rivets, as I thought it might be a good idea to use something which is easier to install than more rivets (I'd have to pay someone to reinstall then as I haven't got a rivet thingy) and more easily removable to check under there in future i.e. after each winter to clean the salt out, such as stainless self-tappers or fir tree clips?
