Looking for some gti6 brakes for my xs, wondering what you can use to clean the calipers off? Wire brush? But mainly what people think is the best pad and disc setup? Hoping to get some different views. Thanks
Sam

Ds2500 pads with standard discs front and back. The xs has 266mm discs and the 6 has 283mm. If you have Lucas calipers you can get the larger gti6 mounting bracket to make them suitable for the larger disc.

Was just going to get gti6 calipers and new discs and pads, want something that won't fade, fast road/track use. Gti6 calipers will bolt straight on surely?

Ferodo ds2500 pads are very good at taking serious heat. They don't bite very hard when cold but the more heat you put in them the better they get. They have very good modulation. I've found that standard discs are up to the job if you look after them; get them up to temp gently and cool them down before parking up.

I just thought that if you already have the Lucas caliper then you could save a few quid and only buy the mounting brackets. If you have Bosch or girling calipers then yes you will need both calipers and brackets (yoke's) from a gti6 to make a 283mm disc fit.
Also if you buy Ds2500 pads you should order them for an Alfa Romeo as they sweep the entire disc without leaving a lip. I'm not sure which model Alfa; I'm sure someone on here will know?

Alfa pads will fit the caliper, not the discs mate. Wink

Only because as previously mentioned they sweep the whole area of the disc and don't leave a lip. Wink

No problem. Thumbs up

You could just go on eBay and find a complete setup straight off a donor car and then fit the lot, rather than worrying about which bits you need to buy to make it all work.

Its probably the best way to go so you know you have everything needed to fit when you come to do it. Wink
