All, (F.R.A.T warning)

As some of you may know I have recently purchased a 2005 BMW 530d. It has iDrive including bluetooth.

I also own a Samsung Galaxy S2, rooted running the stock OS.

This leads me to my problem.
I cannot get the phone to pair to the car for any period of time. it will find, connect and then 30 secs later disconnect again before reconnecting, getting stuck in an endless loop. It fails to download my phone book although it has done it once.

Now Blackberries will connect, as will an iPhone so I know the car is working fine. This is a well documented problem with no proper solution. All the solutions that ive read ive tried and still no joy.

Anyone else got any suggestions? And please dont say get an Iphone or a Blackberry!

Cheers

I had this with you HTC Desire connecting via bluetooth to my Pioneer 9800bt half way through a song it would go off, i went through applications and cleared data for bluetooth then had to go through the pairing again but all was fine, although it needs to be connected everytime i get in the car but my old Nokia N95 8gb would auto connect and stream

Are there any other saved devices in the BMW? My dad's 207 seems to randomly autoconnect to either my phone or his when we're both in the car, and sometimes jumps from one to the other. Keeping only the one phone in the paired devices list in the car sorts it out.

Has out possibly got anything to do with the way the phone is only visible for a short amount of time? Theres a timer for it in the bluetooth settings. Probly isnt this but iv never connected a phone to a car via bluetooth.

Thanks for the link. The problem does seem to be something to do with that service. That works for some, not for others. Unfortunately I'm one of the others.

Rooting it messes with the Kernel usually, that would explain why your "one of the others". (Is this the latest kernel for the device?)

I would wait a month and drop Ice Cream Sandwich on to it when they release the official one. Or if you really want to sort it out find one of the Custom ROM's with either a different BT Stack on it, or a different version of our BT stack.

Cheers. Ill probably have to wait till ICS comes out then. I've made a little progress into it, can get it connected some of the time by stopping some running services. But it's a faff and would just like it to connect on its own.
