Hey all,

Going to 'attempt' to change my ball joints tomorrow.

Just wondering what sort of torque values i should be using to do up all the bolts and pinch bolts with?

Inevitably something is going to prevent me from completing the task anyway but i thought i would ask incase i get that far! LOL

Is there a general value (nm) that is applicable for these sorts of things? Thanks

from memory the bj clamp pinch bolt needs 23 lbft only.

which is way short of FT!

all the rest I do by feel.

yeah, no chisels in the clamps, that just f*cks them up.

push in on the disc as you try and lever the wishbone down.

When you say clamps, i assume you mean where the pinch bolt goes through on the hub?

Or the 3 holed bit on the wishbone.

Either way i might be investing in one of those balljoint seperator things from halfords tomorrow to aid me!

Cheers

naah, you don't need those BJ separators, just a lever bar to push the wishbone down.

Ok!

Mission success!

No seized bolts or nuts, ball joints fell out of the hub relatively easily. New ones in, bolts copper greased and washers used. Needs a little tap from the hammer to get the joints back into the hubs.

Did lose about a litre of gearbox oil on the passenger side as the jack that i was using for support fell away and lost a bit of fluid but luckily had a whole 1L bottle of gearbox oil in the garage for such an occasion Whistle

But pretty happy, and it only took me 3 hours LOL

Also had a chance to look at the hub holes whilst i was there and both nice and round/ not ovalled!

Now for a test drive Unsure
