hi there recieved an engine as spares last week from a friend. problem was with it was knocking from the bottom end. removed the sump today and the shells had gone in pot 1 on the rod to the crank. so replaced them. but there is play up and down now. will that be the rod has stretched or will it be the crank face itself. how would i go about it |

Sounds like the rod at the very least is in need of replacement. ________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |

Mick - I see you are a paid up member, well done for that. As a future point, due to the fact you've paid up, this should have been posted in the "Engines" section, it would have more applicable there. ________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |

A running cost which Ash (the owner) has been solely contributing to since the site's opening in late 2002. You have had free use of this facility since you joined up 15 months ago, and you don't think its reasonable to contribute £5 a year to have free reign of the forum and be able to post in ALL sections, thus asking questions in the RELEVANT sections, instead of braking issues in "General"... The fees were introduced for three major reasons. They are as follows: 1) To stop the forum being bombarded by the infestaton of "trolls" randomly signing up and spoiling the facility for the genuine members. 2) To create a level of discipline, where people would be "encouraged" to think about what they were posting and where BEFORE they posted, thus creating a better, less cluttered site. 3) The main reason. The site was becoming cluttered and slow, with many members complaining about lack of access and slow loading. Ash took this onboard and DID something about it. He revamped the site, and changed the hosting server. Yes, there have been teething problems. But in the main, it has been a change for the better. Just in case you was wondering, this particular change resulted in a higher financial running cost, and therefore Ash (quite reasonably) made the decision to ask members to contribute a small fee, something which I personally know he never wanted to do originally, hence the site has been free for almost 10 years. The guy doesn't even own a GTi-6 anymore and lives the other side of the world, he doesn't need the forum and could simply close it down if he felt so inclined. However, he keeps it alive and running for the benefit of all the members who find it a useful, enjoyable facility including you. All that, and you're too tight to contribute £5 for the priviledge. ________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |

Just because it looks good does not mean it is, Cranks can bend as said even with the slightest of knocks, Rods will go oval so again must be checked at the very least.Replacing bearings alone is a huge risk, some get away with it ________________________________________ 306 Rallye Sptint/Race Car, 205 CTI 1.9 8v to name a fewRoad, Track and Race/Rally car preparation to your personal requirements, Full Workshop & Diagnostic Facilities New and Second parts, from Plugs to Turbo's We now also carry out Routine Servicing www.pugracing.com & FB Page, https://www.facebook.com/PugRacing Ebay; http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Pug-Racing-Shop 2012/2013/2014/2019 Class Winners at Gurston Down Speed Hillclimb & Joint overall, Class record too along the way, |
