i drove mine for about 6 months before i booked it in for the VIC. once it is declared a cat-c you don't get tax reminders. so you need the VIC before you come to tax it. they issue you a new logbook which is identical except for it says damage repaired [date] on the frontstupid that they declared mine cat-c because by comparison it was a little job to fix - bumper, bonnet. new wing. took about 2 hours to fix one night ________________________________________ 306 rallye reproduction decals (full sets/individual decals) | 306 b-pillar textured vinyl weatherstrips306 slam panel esso stickers | 306 yellow / orange / pension fund red side door badges gti6 inlet manifold badges | 306 rear boot badges (p2/p3) winner of Extraction of toys from prams with outstanding vigour award 2009 [source: gti6 owners club] |

iirc the vehicle needs to have the vic check done for the v5 to be released!?once the car is VIC checked then you can drive it ________________________________________ Rich E wrote: With the 306 Rallye the goal wasn't to make a purer or more focussed car. you don't need an MOT, that's just the insurance companies being arses I think, being cat C doesn't void your mot.I still had the v5 for my cat C zx, nobody asked for the v5 to be sent to them, however I did need a vic before getting a new v5 so I could tax it online (address was wrong) ________________________________________ need a part number? get on here - http://public.servicebox.peugeot.comBring on the Trumpets. |

Taking the car for a VICWhen you take your car for a VIC the following must apply: repairs must be conducted and the car must be roadworthy and capable of being driven under its own power if it's over three years old, the car must be covered by a valid MOT if it's being driven to the VIC the person driving the car must be insured the car must display front and rear number plates if it's being driven to the VIC - for assistance in obtaining number plates, contact VOSA on 0300 123 9000 A car can be driven directly to and from a pre-arranged VIC without road tax. ________________________________________ Rich E wrote: With the 306 Rallye the goal wasn't to make a purer or more focussed car. ok, my story:december 2010 - hit january 2011 - inspector said it was cat-d feb 2011 - fixed it myself october 2011 - mot'd it no problem november 2011 - because tax was due at end of month, i didn't get reminder, so booked it in for the VIC. i had to do this, because when i tried to tax it online, it said i had a damage marker against it, for which a VIC was required. passed no problem. they told me to send the certificate of VIC pass off and my V5. got the V5 back, saying 'car damaged but repaired', in time to tax it etc [not that i needed it, cos it was insured+mot'd and i did it online..] story ends here ________________________________________ 306 rallye reproduction decals (full sets/individual decals) | 306 b-pillar textured vinyl weatherstrips306 slam panel esso stickers | 306 yellow / orange / pension fund red side door badges gti6 inlet manifold badges | 306 rear boot badges (p2/p3) winner of Extraction of toys from prams with outstanding vigour award 2009 [source: gti6 owners club] |

you know VOSA only check the VIN matches the logbook and hardly anything else? you can push the gti6 in there missing all the panels and it'll pass, don't know why it says you have to drive it! seen people push cars in there what you read <> what can happen. they are mostly checking your car is not a rung car there a lot with coaches for MOT's ________________________________________ 306 rallye reproduction decals (full sets/individual decals) | 306 b-pillar textured vinyl weatherstrips306 slam panel esso stickers | 306 yellow / orange / pension fund red side door badges gti6 inlet manifold badges | 306 rear boot badges (p2/p3) winner of Extraction of toys from prams with outstanding vigour award 2009 [source: gti6 owners club] |

I took a car for a VIC chack and it had not been repaired! A VIC check is just for the ID of the car (Vehicle Identity Check) just to make sure you have not stolen another car and transfered the ID across.MOT is Void after being written off and the VIC check has to be done so you can get a v5 in your name, as people have said. yes you has a v5 (which you should really have) but if you just send it off they would keep it and make you do the VIC check anyway! but no you should not really drive it till its passed a VIC check, though lots of people do, the risk is up to you weither you get caught? ________________________________________ Carl Chambersemail; pugnacious.peugeot@yahoo.co.uk . the police didn't say a word to me [i was pulled before my VIC check was done] and my insurers and DVLA said nothing of the sort either about the MOT being void in hindsight i should have got it done sooner but i was reluctant to pay money until i had to ________________________________________ 306 rallye reproduction decals (full sets/individual decals) | 306 b-pillar textured vinyl weatherstrips306 slam panel esso stickers | 306 yellow / orange / pension fund red side door badges gti6 inlet manifold badges | 306 rear boot badges (p2/p3) winner of Extraction of toys from prams with outstanding vigour award 2009 [source: gti6 owners club] |

VIC does not void the MOT unless the vehicle is under 3 years old apparently. it only stops you obtaining new V5's or tax reminders until the VIC is done more info here and here stop flapping and just take it for a VIC if you are worrying ________________________________________ 306 rallye reproduction decals (full sets/individual decals) | 306 b-pillar textured vinyl weatherstrips306 slam panel esso stickers | 306 yellow / orange / pension fund red side door badges gti6 inlet manifold badges | 306 rear boot badges (p2/p3) winner of Extraction of toys from prams with outstanding vigour award 2009 [source: gti6 owners club] |
