I am not flushing it properly thats for sure.

Im just taking the pipe off the pump that comes from the reservoir, letting that drain down the front of the block into the tray.

How would i go about flushing the whole system?

Its a shame there is no PAS bleed pump thing like you can do with brake lines

That system deffo needs a proper flush. The only way I can think of is stripping it all down and then flushing all the pipework etc off the car. Yes

Thats the only way really to be sure you've flushed it properly.

Hmm that is a job to go on my to do list then LOL

What would you say is the best fluid to flush it out with once its off the car? I wouldnt imagine water is much use unless i left the pipes to dry properly on a radiator in the house or something

I've used Forte stuff on oil changes before and it seems to help, they do a power steering additive that stops leaks and foaming, might be useful.

Ebay

I'm not entirely sure but can you bleed these systems with a pressure bleeder? I have a 10ltr capacity one that you pump up. If you pump it up empty it will force all the old fluid and any contaminants out (use it for cooling systems mostly). Then put your new fluid in and bobs your uncle.

If anyone can confirm this a pressure bleed kit is only about £50. Cheaper than all that fluid...

I would remove the reservoir and completly clean it, Use anything that will degrease but not leave anything behind, myself I would go for petrol or something similar that will evaporate.

When you refit it leave the return to reservoir pipe disconnected, start the engine and feed new fluid through and catch what comes out of there in a bottle until you have clear fluid coming out.

When you are sure it's clear reconnect the pipe and you should be all good.
