In the last month I have suffered two failures of the P-bush spindle on my car, at first I assumed the clonk was engine mount or ball joint related but it soon worsened to the extent that the steering wheel snatches in your hand as you come on and off the throttle or when you brake. I'll get some pics up when I figure how to do that from an iPhone but just be warned. The spindles are 18/19mm where they enter the bush but they are machined down to about 14mm where they enter the wishbone forming a nice sharp diameter change and a weak spot next to the heat affected zone where they are welded, basicly they were designed by dangerous c*nts! If any of the previous owners of my China 6 know where these awful pieces of s**te came from I'd be very keen to take up my complaint with the manufacturer (Although to be understood I would probably first have to learn Chineese Dry )

agreed. you really need to be wary of pattern parts supplied by motor factors. euro car parts

bottom arms seem to be the best without going straight to peugeot imo

Be very careful of scantech wishbones. Had one snap on the volvo coming off the drive. Would have been very, very nasty if it had happened at any speed - the wheel broke the arch liner as it was.

One wishbone from GSF on my 205 was so badly made it destroyed the new driveshaft I put on. It was about an inch out of line with the original. They replaced both of them foc.

Cheers Dan, I expect the reciept is in the pile of paperwork that came with the car, just haven't had a chance to sift through it.

I had a wishbone snap on me last weekend.
The 4 places the arm is welded to the bushes that attach to the cradle had all snapped. By the looks of it, 2 weren't even joined to start with (there was paint coating where they should have been welded) The penultimate weld went as I came off the motorway from a 70mile trip, and about 1mile later the last weld went and the wheel locked underneath my wheel arch, even at about 15 it caused damage.
Could have been very nasty if it had gone any number of minutes earlier at 80mph!!!

The wishbone was from Unipart.

It had been on my car for only 9 months and it is not abused at all.
Checked the other ide and the ball joint is so worn it needs replacing too, so off they come.

I fitted 2 cheapo arms to a freinds mondeo only 3 months back after the worn out ball joint popped out of the socket on a mini roundabout on her.
after driving it yesterday I'd say the P/s ball joint is f**ked allready.
