recently fitted a new engine in the 6. there is a white plug on the front above the sump with 1pin inside. i cant seem to find the wire that goes on to it. is it there Crazy

As stated in the other thread, it's for the oil temp sensor in the front of the sump. Yes

If you don't have it on the loom you have and you can see that it hasn't been cut off, then you have the wrong loom for the '6' engine.

It could be that you have a Phase 1 loom, in which case it won't have a plug for oil temp, but instead it will have one for the oil pressure gauge on the dash. Which year is your car?

its a phase 3 stan it cant be the oil temp sensor because thats working correctly. everything seems fine theres just a plug missing. ta for your help

It could be a spare then thinking about it.

From memory now thinking about it, the oil temp sensor is a blue plug anyway. Doh

The only electrical item in that vacinity without looking at it is the AC compressor. Does your air-con work?
If thats fine, then maybe it isn't used on our cars, although I don't remember having it on mine which is also a Phase 3.
