Sounds new gear box time or clutch on its way out________________________________________ "Police arrested two kids yesterday, one was drinking battery acid, the other was eating fireworks. They charged one and let the other one off." |

From reading Miles' very informative posts on here, synchro issues are very rare on GTi boxes.I read about a clip on the synchro hub but i cannot find the post now. Edit: That's 1st to 2nd crunch, my bad. ________________________________________ I'm Si btwNight Blue VW Golf GTD Bianca LBSC Rallye - Track/Road Slag Project Thread Sparkling Silver Mini Cooper D - Super Dooper - (The other half's wheels) |

If you know what your doing (or if you know a specialist that does) you can take the box out and have the syncro replaced.________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |

I would lubricate the gear linkages first. Then change the geat box oil Check your front brakes are not binding (which also affects gear changes) And only then start considering open heart surgery |

linkages dont cause crunching, it'll be synchro of spring clip as mentioned, or clutch not disengaging fully.________________________________________ need a part number? get on here - http://public.servicebox.peugeot.comBring on the Trumpets. |

A second-hand box will probably cost you the same amount as a repair to be honest. The only problem with buying a second-hand box is that you don't know it's history or it's internal state. You could be buying a box with the same issue as yours, and then waste time fitting it only to find you haven't achieved anything. So its as broad as it is long really...________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |

It was Miles who rebuilt my box and strengthened the gears at the same time. Couldn't speak highly enough of his services, top job! ________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |

Had a similair issue on mine recently - new clucth cable sorted it.My non techinical logical thinking was that the cable had stretched or the adjuster had seized and so was not disengaging the clutch when pressed - anyone agree with this? ________________________________________ 1997 Black GTi6smithers205 at hotmail.com |

I doubt the cable stretched, it was probably down to the auto-adjuster in the cable seizing up. ________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |
