I got my handbrake cables replaced for the MOT. Last weekend I noticed the driver's side one was hanging down quite a bit (about 1/3 of the way to the ground) under the rear of the fuel tank (it seems to be seated properly in the channel a bit further forward). I put a cable tie around the fuel tank bracket and it held it up a treat, but 180 motorway miles later on arriving home the cable tie had mysteriously disappeared and the cable was hanging down once more. It is quite visible when looking at the car.

Is there an easy fix?

I've got the same problem...however, it's least of my worries right now! (about 14th on the list of broken things to fix)

Has the metal clip gone?
Mine were rusty as fook and fell apart when I removed them, I bought some new ones, a pack of 5 or 10, I still have some, let me know if you need any, you can have a couple if you want.

I can't remember if the clip is on both sides or not.
I've got a pic somewhere of said clip in projects section.

Tie it up with a couple of cable ties this time, but DO NOT tie them very tight. This allows for the cable to be tied up, yet still have enough movement to be able to operate.

Due to the fact that it is not routed and clipped in the correct fashion, the outer cable itself will try to move as well as the inside part when you pull the handbrake. If the cable tie was tight it would simply have snapped it. Yes

Stan.

I'll look it's either 4 or 9 I think.
It's the one that clips in the tank or somewhere near there

Mine looks very similar to the pic above. The visible metal guide by the trailing arm is intact as per the pic.

Could I take you up on your kind offer and get a couple of clips from you?
