I've been thinking about this for a while and its been really bugging as to whether it would make a difference to the cars performance or not...

Basically I think it would be a good idea if a scoop was made that sat along the bottom of the front bumper, the idea being that it funnels the air through a filter and then into the engine but has a sort of 'force' induction effect. Obviously, if my idea stands, it would make a greater impact at higher speeds, or am I underestimating the amount of suction that happens through a throttle body?

Has anyone seen anything like this before?

It wouldn't be forced induction, it would be a form of 'ram air'. It could work, although for the very tiny performance improvement it may give I think you would be wasting your time really.

you mean like a totally standard gti6 air intake system? LOL

it works if you have throttle bodies and a big maxi type airbox, otherwise, I doubt it makes much difference other than not sucking in hot air.

Yer like that but I was thinking on a larger scale to funnel more air, but yer you guys a probably right it wont make much difference.

I have a K&N induction kit on mine at the moment sitting in the engine bay getting nice and hot, I should really change it!

I have an air filter that sits behind the front foglight hole so it should get a good feed of cold air, but it doesn't feel much different to other 6's Ive been in apart from the noise. I think you need to be going over 80 to get an appreciable difference from ram air. I know bikes with ram air systems did this to get around EU power limits, as they would produce lower power on a static dyno than in real use.

Performance gains would be similar to having a shit before driving.

I'd go for that, its cheaper and it's good to be regular too.

I always thought that the standard air intake was down under the grill to take advantage of the pressurized air behind the bumper?

Another quality reply from Jim...Laugh my ass off

Dan86 - The standard air intake is just below the grill not the bumper?
