Iv just recently bought a 6 and it's the first ive owned,I noticed that after I've been driving it if I park up and leave it running for 5-10mins the temperature gets up to about 90 however it doesn't use water or blow off pressure, also there is no sign of water in oil or out just wondering if this is normal? ________________________________________ R.I.P my first 6 |

mine does the exact same when i'm stuck in traffic, gets to a certain point and the second fan kicks in and the temp comes down a bit.Freaked me out first time as well, but from what I read its fairly normal. Also whacking the aircon on seems to bring the other fan on and brings the temp back down to 80ish ________________________________________ Darkstar |

Yeah, will go to 97 the slow fans should kick in. then the temp will drop to 90 and so the cycle continues. If it goes above 97 you will have a fan problem. ________________________________________ See the sheer power and might of the lesser known burrowing owl. |

Also whacking the aircon on seems to bring the other fan on and brings the temp back down to 80ish Activating the air-con doesn't start a second fan, as the fans are wired to only operate together or not at all. Therefore, you will find if the car is sitting getting hotter in the traffic, but hasn't yet reached 97C when the fans will both operate at low speed, they will both start to operate if you activate the air-con thus bringing the temp back down. Because the fans will stay on whilst the air-con is swtiched on, if you leave the air-con on whenever your in traffic you should see the temp stay at around 80C... Then it wont work as it aint activated. There is however a faq on here somewhere about wiring the the fans to work off of ac button. ________________________________________ See the sheer power and might of the lesser known burrowing owl. |

Yes, as Aaron says, the air-con system is only activated if there is sufficient pressure in the system. If you have removed the system though, you can trick it into thinking there is pressure and therefore when you press the AC button the fans come on even though the rest of the air-con components have been removed.________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |

It is an easy mod, I will see if I can find it in the FAQ for you. If not, I will sort you out a guide myself. Bear in mind though this mod can only be done if the air-con system has been removed from the vehicle, as if it is still present it will cause the compressor to engage even though the gas is too low and therefore cause major damage.________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |

Blazeyellow Gti 6 wrote: So just disconnect the connecter on it and then rewire the switch in the car like you said? Yes, that's correct. To do the rewire, you need to disconnect the brown 4-pin plug off the pressure sensor, located in front of the power steering reservoir. Once this is done, you will need to bridge with a piece of wire pins 1 and 3. Now when you pres the air-con button, the air-con will not operate but the fans will come on and stay on until you press the air-con button again. But...make sure you disconnect the compressor first!
